A creative solution was required to maintain enthusiasm among the public and provide retailers with an engaging digital sales tool post launch. This virtual reality experience bridges the gap in time between the F-PACE press launch and physical vehicles rolling into dealerships 4-6 months later.
Within dealerships, cars are displayed statically and local test drives are limited in displaying full vehicle capabilities. We needed to create a tool that would aid dealers in showcasing the true performance capabilities of their launch vehicles.
The ‘Mixed Reality Preview App’ available for Jaguar F-PACE showcases the new vehicle using a mix of virtual reality and augmented reality, all viewed through the Samsung Gear VR HMD. The VR element of the experience was an innovative combination of visually stunning real-time and pre-rendered visuals showed the cars’ key features, colour & trim options and deep-dive vehicle information. The AR element focused on context, providing a 100% scale impression of the new F-Pace. There was an additional VR element allowing the user to virtually sit in the car and explore the interior.
An iPad app was also produced that pairs with the Samsung Gear VR HMD, allowing the dealer to see what the customer sees and also help navigate and control the experience.
